This 60-minute professional development session equips Massachusetts community health workers with essential knowledge about female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) as it relates to the communities they serve. The session covers global prevalence, terminology, types, and impacts of FGM/C; the U.S. and Massachusetts legal context, including MA law H4606; and how to recognize, respond to, and provide culturally sensitive support to community members who may be affected. Participants will explore how FGM/C awareness connects to their roles as trusted community liaisons and how this knowledge supports referrals, advocacy, and community education. Features films from Voices to End FGM/C.
