Female genital mutilation and cutting (FGM/C) remains an ongoing issue affecting over half a million girls and women in the United States alone. A key element of eliminating FGM/C is the role of the media - in all its forms. Journalists, reporters, and other media professionals can play the vital role of bringing the deep-rooted complexities of FGM/C to the public and increasing awareness of the prevalence of FGM/C in the US, its life-long harmful impacts on survivors, and the strategies for opposition. Join us for a discussion on increasing gender-sensitive and ethical coverage of this harmful practice.
