The DMV Area Coalition to End FGM/C is hosting an upcoming webinar focused on the progress made and the work still needed to address female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) in Maryland.

This event will uplift how FGM/C impacts Maryland residents, current legislative solutions to address FGM/C – Maryland Health–General § 20-601 to 20-603, and what policy solutions can be taken to better protect all individuals impacted by this human rights violation

Special guest speakers, Senator Sara Love and Delegate Dana Jones, will share their motivations behind sponsoring the SAFE Act, legislation brought to their attention by the DMV Coalition. Other panelists and speakers include Survivors and community members impacted by FGM/C, members of the DMV Coalition, and Sean Callaghan, a prominent U.K.-based researcher in the field of FGM/C.

The webinar series reflects the DMV’s mission to protect children and support survivors of FGM/C in Maryland and the greater DMV Area. Our survivor-led Coalition has collaborated with survivors, nonprofits, policymakers, researchers, and community leaders to build a unified movement to end this harmful practice. Join us as we share updates, amplify local efforts, and explore ways to get involved in the fight to end FGM/C.
