At Sahiyo, our work to support survivors of female genital cutting (FGC) and advance gender justice depends on the dedication of survivor leaders and the generosity of our supporters. While program and event donations are vital, long-term sustainability requires a different kind of investment: the Sahiyo Endowment.
What Is the Sahiyo Endowment?
The Sahiyo Endowment is a permanent fund designed to provide ongoing financial support for our programs and initiatives. Contributions to the endowment grow over time, allowing us to sustain survivor-centered programs, community storytelling, and education initiatives for generations to come.
In essence, giving to the endowment is a way to ensure that Sahiyo’s work continues to thrive, no matter what the future holds.
Why It Matters
Every program we run, from healing circles to community education and policy engagement, relies on consistent resources to create lasting change. By supporting the endowment, donors help ensure these programs can continue, expand, and adapt to the evolving needs of survivors.
This stability also allows survivor leaders to focus on guiding their communities, sharing their stories, and shaping the future of gender justice.
How to Contribute to the Sahiyo Endowment
There are several ways to support the endowment:
Give through a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)
If you have a donor-advised fund at Fidelity, Schwab, Vanguard, a community foundation, or another provider, you can recommend a grant to:
Sahiyo U.S., Inc.
EIN: 33-1605655
Address: 45 Prospect Street, Cambridge, MA 02139
When making your grant recommendation, please note “Sahiyo Endowment Fund” in the designation field so your gift is directed appropriately.
Transfer Cash or Securities
Donors may also contribute cash or publicly traded securities directly to Sahiyo’s endowment investment account. If you are interested in making this type of gift, please contact us so we can provide transfer instructions and coordinate the gift.
Include the Endowment in Planned Giving
You may also choose to support the endowment through your estate or legacy plans, helping ensure survivor-led programs continue well into the future.
Creating a Legacy of Impact
The Sahiyo Endowment is more than a fund, it represents a shared commitment to a future where survivors continue to lead the movement for change in their communities. By contributing to the endowment, you help create lasting support, empowerment, and hope for communities impacted by FGC.
