On June 10, 2025, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene raised H.R. 3492 in the House Judiciary Committee. This bill seeks to amend the federal FGM/C law to include gender-affirming care for minors, effectively shifting the focus away from children at risk of female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C), whom the bill promises to protect. The bill has since progressed to the House floor for a vote, but we cannot let it pass!
We need your help!
If you live in the U.S., your voice is a powerful tool in ensuring that this bill will not pass the House. You can help protect the current federal law from being misused by taking the following steps (compiled by the U.S. End FGM/C Network):
- Complete the U.S. Network’s Call to Action to urge your Congress Members to vote no on H.R. 3492.
- Look up who your elected officials are using this link, and contact them directly via phone or email to let them know why it’s important to protect the federal FGM/C law as is.
- If you contact your elected official either by phone, email, or in-person meeting, please log it using this form so that the U.S. Network can keep track of how the meeting goes, their stance on the bill, and if there is any follow-up needed.
- Share these steps/resources with your friends, families, and networks to ensure the word is spread.
Action is necessary to ensure that the current law works for those it was intended to protect and not cause undue harm to those who are seeking legitimate medical care.
