End of Year FGM/C 101 Training with the Coalition for a Healthier Greater Worcester

On December 19th, the HOPE MA team had the privilege of facilitating a live FGM/C 101 training for members of the Coalition for a Healthier Greater Worcester. Thanks to Casey Bates, Director of the Coalition, and Tempe Staples, Research and Evaluation Coordinator, for their partnership in bringing this session to fruition and for their commitment to integrating FGM/C awareness into their region’s ongoing community health initiatives. The collaborative session brought together the full HOPE MA project team, from the US Network to End FGM/C, Sahiyo, and the UMass Chan Collaborative in Health Equity

FGM/C 101 is an interactive session to build attendees’ foundational knowledge of FGM/C, including the current legal context and examination of culturally responsive approaches when engaging with impacted communities.

The intimate group of coalition members in attendance benefited from facilitated discussion and exploration of Sahiyo’s unique storytelling-based educational approach. This event served as a valuable opportunity to connect with our central Massachusetts audience and continue building new partnerships.

HOPE MA is looking forward to continuing to grow the project’s reach in central Massachusetts through our upcoming Coalition Launch Event on the International Day of Zero Tolerance to End FGM/C.
