CelebrateHer 2026: Comedy, Community, and Supporting Survivors During Domestic Violence Awareness Month

During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we are reminded that safety, dignity, and freedom from violence are fundamental human rights. Gender-based violence takes many forms, including female genital cutting (FGC), a harmful practice rooted in gender inequality and power imbalances. When carried out by family members, FGC can also be considered a form of domestic violence.

Through survivor-centered programs and community-driven work, Sahiyo supports people impacted by FGC while working to create spaces where survivors are heard, valued, and empowered.

This October, we invite you to be part of Sahiyo’s 4th Annual CelebrateHer: Comedy & Auction, a five-day virtual event that brings together laughter, community, and purpose. CelebrateHer is centered on the experiences of survivors impacted by FGC and gender-based violence while welcoming people of all gender identities who are affected by these forms of harm.

Your participation directly supports Sahiyo’s work to strengthen survivor-centered programs, amplify survivor voices, and build community-based support systems. Whether you attend, sponsor, or bid in the auction, you help sustain critical work that uplifts survivors and advances gender justice.

The celebration begins on October 11, when our online auction launches in honor of the International Day of the Girl Child. The auction will feature unique items and experiences, offering multiple opportunities to support Sahiyo’s mission throughout the week.

The event will culminate in an hour of live virtual comedy on Thursday, October 15, 2026 | 5–6:30 p.m. PT / 8–9:30 p.m. ET, bringing laughter and connection to the heart of this awareness month.

Meet Our CelebrateHer 2026 Comedians

  • Aivy Cordova – Bay Area–based comedian featured as a rising Filipino American comic to watch and the first female headliner at NYC’s Filipino Comedy Festival.
