Sahiyo Celebrates 10 Years with New 501(c)(3) Status

We are thrilled to share a major milestone in Sahiyo’s journey: we are now an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization! This official status marks an important step forward, giving us greater autonomy and flexibility to expand our work, supporting communities impacted by female genital cutting (FGC) and advancing reproductive health equity.

In addition, Sahiyo has earned the Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid, recognizing our commitment to openness and accountability. This seal reflects our dedication to sharing our programs, goals, and impact with our community, partners, and supporters in a transparent and trustworthy way.

This achievement comes at a particularly meaningful time: Sahiyo celebrates our 10th Anniversary in December 2025. Over the past decade, we have grown from a small community initiative into a global network of change makers, advocates, and survivors. Reaching this milestone while becoming an independent nonprofit and receiving Candid’s highest transparency recognition positions us for an exciting future.

Looking ahead, our 501(c)(3) status will allow us to:

  • Expand survivor-centered programs and educational initiatives.
  • Strengthen partnerships with communities across the globe.
  • Ensure sustainable growth and greater impact for the next decade of work.

We could not have reached this point without the support of our donors, partners, and volunteers. Thank you for believing in Sahiyo’s mission and helping us achieve this momentous milestone. As we celebrate 10 years of advocacy, community, and impact, we are more inspired than ever to continue working toward a world where every person can live free from FGC and with access to equitable sexual and reproductive health care.
