Sahiyo is excited to announce that our Co-Founder and Executive Director Mariya Taher has been named as a finalist for the 2025 Exceptional Women and Young Women of Peace Award! This award honors women who demonstrate leadership and use their voice to create positive change and build lasting peace in the world.
Each year on March 8th, International Women’s Day, Pathways to Peace launches its annual “Exceptional Women of Peace Awards Program,” which gives out an award each year to an Exceptional Woman of Peace, striving to create long-lasting change, innovation, and healing in her community. The program culminates each year in an Award Ceremony on September 13th, the annual anniversary of the UN Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace.
Pathways To Peace is an international UN-designated Peace Messenger Organization and has Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Since its inception in 1981, Pathways to Peace has worked with the UN to expand awareness of and engage in the International Day of Peace, which is held annually on September 21st.
The Sahiyo team is thrilled that Mariya has been named as a finalist for this award and that her incredible work continues to be recognized around the world.
