It's been four long years of advocating for a comprehensive bill that protects girls from female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) in Connecticut, and we’ve finally reached the point of having a raised bill that the Connecticut Coalition to End FGM/C supports.
But we need your help.
If you can, please call Senator Winfield and request that he call SB 1438, "An Act Prohibiting Female Genital Mutilation," for a vote at the next Connecticut Senate session.
Sen. Winfield can be contacted at 1-860-240-0475 or emailed at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
The session for getting bills passed in Connecticut ends June 4th. That means that SB1438, which will protect girls from FGM/C in the state, needs to pass not just the Senate, but also the House before next Wednesday, June 4th.
We're running out of time. Sen. Winfield, as Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, has the authority to raise the bill in the Senate. This is why we need to urge Sen. Winfield to raise the bill at the next Senate Session.
Your support can help us get SB1438 raised for a vote and ultimately passed this legislative session. We are so close to having a law that protects Connecticut girls from this human rights abuse, but we can’t do it without you.
Urge Senator Winfield to call SB 1438 now!
