Investing in the Future of Survivor-Centered Work

At Sahiyo, we believe that lasting social change is built through community-centered investment in survivor voices and gender justice. Sustaining survivor-centered work requires long-term commitment that extends beyond immediate programming needs.

One member of Sahiyo’s community shared:

“Being part of this community of survivors has given me knowledge, understanding, and confidence I never had before. If you ever wonder if what you do makes a difference, it does — know you have saved a life…mine.”

Stories like this remind us why it is so important that survivor-centered spaces continue to exist for years to come.

Thus, Sahiyo is building its Endowment Fund to create a permanent source of support for survivor-centered programming, education, and community dialogue addressing female genital cutting (FGC). The fund is designed so that the principal is preserved, while a portion of the earnings can be used each year—helping provide reliable, long-term resources that sustain this work across generations.

This spring, we are working to raise $30,000 by June 30, with a $10,000 match available to help grow the fund and build early momentum. These initial contributions are an important step in establishing a strong foundation for the endowment and its long-term impact.

By strengthening these long-term resources, Sahiyo can remain responsive to community needs while continuing to amplify survivor voices, support community learning, and advance gender justice over time.

Join the Founding Donor Community

We invite community members and supporters to help build this foundation by joining a group of early donors committed to investing in the future of survivor-centered work.

Why This Matters

FGC impacts individuals, families, and communities in deeply complex and personal ways. Sustained support helps ensure that survivor-centered programs, learning spaces, and community conversations can continue to grow and respond to evolving needs.

Reliable, long-term funding strengthens Sahiyo’s ability to amplify marginalized voices, support survivor leadership, and maintain community-centered work across generations.
